TNTF Directions Spring 2024

This is a quarterly newsletter available to those that have expressed an interest or have signed up at one of the events that TNTF has been a part of.

First—A note from the Director...

As we are entering Spring, we have so much to be thankful for. We have been able to resume our monthly community meals with our clients. This has been a great time in developing a sense of hope and belonging. incredible food being served; survivors, their children and volunteers are attending, good relationships are being established. Not only is a sense of community being fostered, but confidence and opportunities for growth are being recognized and considered. There has even been a Life Skills cooking class and it was very well received.
We have offered several Awareness Training sessions taking place one of them being a 24 hour/ 3 session for the Macomb County Sheriffs Department. We look forward to working with our local and county wide organizations to share an understanding of how trauma affects those that have been trafficked and how we can best come to their aid. Our staff and volunteers are attending workshops and other training sessions whenever possible to better serve our clients.
TNTF was recently blessed by Almont Vineyard Church with a Ladies Blessings Brunch that raised close to $1,000 along with items ranging from toiletries to paper products and pantry stable food, canned goods, cereals, gift cards and everything in between. Many thanks go out to the Women’s Ministry for blessing our survivors and the ministry.
Blessings!
Heidi

Survivors Spotlight:
Rather than shine a light on one individual, we thought you might enjoy an update on some of the clients that are making progress on a day to day basis.  We are so grateful to be able to share with you:
We have 4 Survivors moving into housing—TNTF is helping provide household items and furnishings as we can.
We also have 4 Survivors are continuing and/or finishing their educational goals, from high school completion or trade school, to college degrees. One of those survivors is entering into  Pre-law studies.
What a great testimony of how God is transforming lives through the ministry of TNTF!

A Look Ahead:
True North To Freedom has launched an app for your smartphones this will make it much easier for anyone looking to connect to the services, programs and events being offered by and for our organization. Look for the TNTF app is now available in your app store.
If you would like to help, but don’t know where you might fit in, we are looking for prospective teachers to come and offer their knowledge for Life Skills Classes we offer to our clients. We have upcoming classes being scheduled for Journal Making, Artistic Flower Design and Knitting. We would love to offer classes for Financial Fitness, Balanced Meal Planning and Zumba. To volunteer or for additional information, email us at
                                                                                info@truenorhttofreedom.org

And finally:
A Big THANK YOU…goes out to one of our partners in support, Covenant Financial. Their team arranged for TNTF to visit the Cattleman’s Meat Market and fill our pantry freezer with meats for the survivors we serve and their families. We don’t have to tell you how hard it is to provide for our own families; being the recipients of such generosity goes a long way to help families in need, right here in our own community.
We appreciate each of our donors and the churches and businesses that have been faithful supporters. We are able to provide only as others give to TNTF; if you are interested in supporting the work we are doing, please visit our website and reach out to us.

Cooking Classes at TNTF

And a note from our friend Koffee:

Today was full and warming. I am so grateful for the relationship that I have built with Heidi from @truenorthtofreedom her mission and intention have set a tone for me in my pursuit of standing in the gap as the matriarch God intended me to be. What a wonderful mentor and friend she has been, holding me accountable to my intention as a soldier in the army of the lord.
I stopped by church today to bring awareness to food as medicine in the form of good ol' chicken soup, just in time for the first winter storm in Michigan this season. My heart and so many bellies are full as a result and I’m grateful I was blessed with the ability to teach and to learn.
If you or anyone you know may have been victimized by sexual assault, domestic violence or human trafficking please reach out to @truenorthtofreedom as they are doing great restorative work as far as bringing Gods children back to his side after they have experienced hardship.
God knows I need reassurance for everything that I do because of my own experiences and he continues to provide. The photo  was an expression of gratitude from someone present in the class. 🥹🥹🥹
I never hide the fact that I am a survivor (of so many things) but I know it is important that I reiterate that survival requires a village and that we hold ourselves accountable to being that.

Thanks again for the opportunity Heidi!!!
